Lourdes Vázquez brings us a new poetry collection this year. Published by Pro Latina Press (Gala de Poesía collection, 2026), ¿Ves? Selección Personal / Do You See? Personal Selection (2007-2018) is a bilingual edition featuring a selection of Vázquez’s stirring and inspiring poems translated into English by Enriqueta Carrington.
Selfa A. Chew (University of Texas at El Paso) writes: “¿Ves? Selección Personal / Do You See? Personal Selection is a masterly example of how poetry and translation can be simultaneously artistic and political processes. Lourdes Vázquez invites us to observe it all through her eyes, while Enriqueta Carrington offers us a window through which to appreciate that vision in another language.”
Lourdes Vázquez is the author of numerous works of poetry and prose with numerous awards. Originally from Puerto Rico, she lives in the United States. Among her recent work we find Fugas (Furtivas: 2023), Puro paisaje (La Criba, 2023), Orígenes de lo eterno y así las cosas (Verbum, 2020), The Tango Files (translated by Brigidina Gentile, Italy: Arcoiris, 2016), Appunti dalla Terra Frammentata (Italia: Edizione Letterarie, 2012), Un enigma: esas muñecas (Madrid: Torremozas, 2015), Honorable Mention 2014 Paz Prize for Poetry (USA); and Adagio con fugas y ciertos afectos (Madrid: Verbum, 2013).
