The 2026 Brooklyn Caribbean Literary Festival (BCLF), organized around the theme “One Hand Don’t Clap – Caribbean Worlds Writing Towards the Future,” is around the corner, September 9 through 13! This year’s keynote event is a conversation between Sister Nancy, dancehall sonic canon, and Jamaican publisher and editor, Tanya Batson-Savage [read description below; RSVP required]. This event takes place on Thursday, September 10, at 6:30pm, at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) Gallery + Café, located at 10 Lafayette Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.

Marsha Massiah (Founder & Conspirator-in-Chief) describes: “Together they will speak to artistic sovereignty and the role of the female deejay in catapulting Jamaican dancehall music to its current international heights. Afterwards, we gather to eat and drink together with dishes provided by some of the finest local Caribbean caterers including Tanty Darlene’s Kitchen and Sugar’D restaurant, Ten to One Rum cocktails, and the warm Gallery + Cafe of our partners at MoCADA.”
