Dedicated to preserving the vision, life, and professional arc of the late Puerto Rican visual artist Arnaldo Roche-Rabell (1955-2018), L’Artban has launched the digital home and official social channels for the Estate of Arnaldo Roche-Rabell. The main page for the Estate of Arnaldo Roche-Rabell, presently under construction, will be available at https://arnaldorocherabell.com/.
The Estate of Arnaldo Roche Rabell writes, “Dedicated to preserving his vision, sharing rare archival moments, and celebrating his lasting impact on Neo-Expressionism, this will become the central official space for his life’s work.”

“At one time what motivated me to elaborate the self-portraits was a search for the forms and ways to enlarge my perception of myself and of life. These are images that reconcile themselves with the world; consciously and subconsciously they are like the manifestation of a sixth sense, a final reality.” — Arnaldo Roche Rabell
According to the Estate, “The painting belongs to a series of late-1980s self-portraits, including ‘The Spirit of the Titan’ (1989), in which Roche rendered his own face at heroic scale, composed and camouflaged by dense foliage. The surface was built from repeated impressions of painted leaves — sometimes the same specimens pressed several times — fusing painting and printmaking in a monotype process that conflates the human and the botanical. The work was featured in Caribbean: Crossroads of the World, a traveling exhibition co-organized by El Museo del Barrio, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Queens Museum of Art, New York.”
