Puerto Rico’s junior player Monica Puig lost her match at the French Open today 6-7, 1-6 to the new junior champion, Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur. Jabeur, in turn, became the first girl from the Arab world and North Africa to win a junior Grand Slam title. After a strong first set decided by a tie-breaker, Jauber dominated the second set to claim victory. A disappointed Monica could barely control her tears after losing the match.

Monica, who was also the runner up at this year’s Australian Open. Is expected to compete next month in the Wimbledon championship.
