The Communist Party newspaper Granma quoted Osmany López, the institute’s vice president, as saying the 36-year-old winner of five Latin Grammys last year “is very excited” about an open-air concert that will include other Latin American stars who have yet to be confirmed. Lopez said Juanes visited Cuba in June and met with Rodríguez, a pioneering member of the “New Song” movement.
