“Vestigios” is a solo exhibition by Giovanni Rodríguez. Presented by La Lineal Gallery, with the collaboration of Antonio Martorell, the exhibition opened at the gallery on September 3 and will remain on view until October 3, 2026. La Lineal is located at 1015 Ponce de León Avenue, Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. The gallery is open Mondays through Saturdays, from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Description: La Lineal, in collaboration with Maestro Antonio Martorell, is pleased to present: “Vestigios” (Vestiges), paintings by Giovanni Rodríguez.

Created between 1986 and 2010, the works explore memory, identity, architecture, and the traces left by human presence. Working with oil, encaustic, charcoal, ink, and mixed media, Rodríguez constructs layered surfaces where figures emerge, dissolve, and reappear as fragments suspended between representation and abstraction. Each work is an excavation of memory: a place where time, erosion, and transformation coexist.

Humberto Figueroa Torres explains, “The paintings displayed on the walls invite a stroll punctuated by pauses, as we focus our gaze to observe and to reconstruct the images through our own subjective sensibilities. The process reveals an artist who expresses himself through the technical language of painting and drawing. From the framework of this visual syntax, he carefully crafts his narrative while allowing space for our own interpretive potential. A leisurely wandering back and forth among the canvases reveals thematic elements that are formed and dissolve in the interplay of streaks, creating effects ranging from somber atmospheres to luminous fields.
