Buckell, one of the guests of honor at the 2017 North American Science Fiction Convention (NASFiC) held in San Juan, Puerto Rico in July. Buckell talked about his history and identity as a Caribbean writer, his fear of hurricanes, his connection with other Caribbean writers such as Tiphanie Yanique, what it is like to write tie-in novels for Halo, and The Tangled Lands, his new book co-written with Paolo Bacigalupi (Saga Press, forthcoming February 2018).

Born in Grenada, Tobias S. Buckell is a New York Times bestselling science-fiction author and futurist. His novels and over 50 stories have been translated into 18 languages.
