2026 Cuban Film Festival: Salvus

Beginning today, August 13, 2026, Anthology Film Archives (AFA) and the Cuban Cultural Center of New York will co-host the annual Cuban Film Festival. The 2026 Cuban Film Festival: Salvus presents talks with Cuban filmmakers Iván Acosta, Ricardo Bacallao, Liena Cid Navia, Rolando Díaz, Raúl Francisco Dorticós, Pavel Giroud, Patricia Pérez Fernández, and Orlando Rojas. Today, the festival begins with a screening of Ricardo Bacallao’s The Uncle’s Request, at 6:00pm. The AFA is located at 32 Second Avenue, New York, New York.

NYC Film Spotlight writes that these “nine contemporary Cuban filmmakers [highlight] themes of immigration, art, adolescent angst, ballet, autism, comedy, and political assassination. The festival also explores the human quest for safety.” See schedule below.
