Exhibition: Gerard Ellis, “The Dominican Dream”

Gerard Ellis’s “The Dominican Dream” opened at Lyle O. Reitzel Arte Contemporáneo (Torre Piantini, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) on October 15, 2026.

Description: Lyle O. Reitzel Arte Contemporáneo presents The Dominican Dream, a new exhibition by Gerard Ellis dedicated to one of the most powerful facets of our cultural imagination. Through the lens of baseball, Ellis constructs a visual universe where childhood, the neighborhood, family, ambition, and the desire to succeed all converge.

Gerard Ellis finds in baseball a language to explore identity, desire, and possibility. Through a lens that brings together hyperrealism, pop art, and various references from art history, he transforms scenes, objects, and figures from the world of baseball into images permeated with profound power and meaning.
