New Issue: REVISTA ICP (4: 5)

[Many thanks to Francis Daniel Nina, Esq. for bringing this item to our attention.] The Journal of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture [Revista del Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña (RICP)] is a multidisciplinary journal dedicated to the study and dissemination of the island’s historical and cultural values. Its first series consisted of 100 issues published between 1958 and 1996. RICP, fourth series, number 5, is entitled “El pentagrama de un pueblo: Rafael Hernández y su herencia musical.”

The issue is dedicated to Puerto Rican songwriter Rafael Hernández (1892-1965), who wrote hundreds of popular songs known all over Latin American. Some of his most famous compositions (according to Wikipedia and popular knowledge!) are “Lamento borincano,” “Capullito de alhelí,” “Silencio,” “Campanitas de cristal,” El cumbanchero,” “Ausencia,” and “Perfume de gardenias,” among others.
