Here is a new initiative to support those affected by Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas by Rise Up Bequia. Here is the press release with detailed information on how to help.

Rise Up Bequia, a St. Vincent and the Grenadines based non-profit, is providing our #OneCaribbean community the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our Bahamian brothers and sisters by supporting continuous shipments of safe drinking water and water purifiers (LifeStraws) to Abaco and Grand Bahama. In partnership with Epatoma Foundation, Rotary Club East Nassau, Rotary Club of Abaco, Tropix Shipping and Bremol, Rise Up Bequia will address the most pressing needs of these post-hurricane communities, and will continue to ship the water for as long as the communities need it and as long as the fund allows. RISE UP BEQUIA in partnership with the Epatoma Foundation, BREMOL INC. Freight Forwarding and Consolidation, BREMOL, International Inc. Exporters in Miami, Florida, Tropix Shipping, the Rotary Club of Abaco and the Rotary Club of East Nassau are joining forces to conduct a relief drive to raise funds to provide drinking water/potable water and LifeStraws (water purification systems) for victims of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas. A constant source of clean water is critically and urgently needed, required to stabilize the health for the victims who have lost everything.

The government of The Bahamas has put a 30-day waiver on all fees on items such as water coming into the country for relief purposes, which means that we are hoping to raise $30,000 by the 24th of September in order for the shipment to reach the Abaco islands before that timeline expires. Each 40’ container will be packed with 20-pallets (40-cases/pallet) of water.

Rise Up Bequia has led several local, on-the-ground initiatives by way of educational and environmental projects catered to alleviating key social issues in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. In 2017, we successfully ran our first Go Fund Me campaign which raised $23,000USD for 1000 tarps to Dominica that were distributed to victims of Hurricane Maria. We are now pleading to our supporters and anyone with a heart to not let the people of The Bahamas down and to give what you can with a generous heart and intention.
