ARC Magazine has just announced job opportunities at the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI). The NGCI is the country’s leading visual arts organization and education center. Their mission is to promote the appreciation and practice of the visual arts of and in the Cayman Islands and to provide innovative, educational programming relating to fine art, cultural heritage, national identity, and Caymanian art history. Applications are currently being invited for the following full-time positions:

EVENTS AND RETAIL ASSISTANT

CI $26,172 – 30,408

Reporting to the Events Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing administrative support within the events and retail space. Duties will include assisting in the planning and implementation of events and supporting the NGCI Art Café and Gallery Shop. This is a physically active role and applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends. Preference will be given to suitably qualified and experienced Caymanians and residents with the right to work.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

CI $54,000 – 60,000

Duties and Responsibilities to include:

  • Oversight of all operations and education programming;
    • Manage the daily needs of the organisation, ensuring that operations are legally compliant, financially viable and meet the requirements of government and the auditors;
    • Oversee routine office management functions including handling administrative details and improving processes;
    • Develop and implement office policies, establishing standards and procedures to ensure organisational effectiveness and maximise efficiencies;
    • Increase the financial contribution generated by fundraising events and initiatives throughout the year, using both innovation and efficiency techniques;
    • Maintain high standards of financial management;
    • Take an active role in staff development, including managing direct reports and having oversight of all staff to ensure engagement and motivation;
    • Successfully implement a quality Education and Outreach Schedule;
    • Manage and lead the Education Department team;
    • Develop/strengthen relationships and create educational partnerships and opportunities with organisations and higher education facilities; and
    • Develop and manage detailed budgets, forecasts and evaluations for educational programmes.

Required:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a similar role, two of which should be at a management/supervisory level;
    • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with an ability to influence and manage all levels;
    • Excellent organisational and administration skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities and deliver to deadlines;
    • A high degree of computer literacy including a knowledge of Windows based applications and the ability to learn and use new software with minimal training;
    • The availability and dedication to meet strict tight deadlines which frequently includes working significant overtime, including weekends;
    • A demonstrable interest in the arts and/or not for profit sector is highly desirable

Salary will be in the range of CI$54-60k per annum and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Preference will be given to suitably qualified and experienced Caymanians and residents with the right to work. Applicants are requested to submit a detailed resume to ciara@steppingstonescayman.com by 30th September 2015.
