Panel and Film Screening on Historical Relations between Vieques and St. Croix

The Museum of the Historical Memory/Historical Archives of Vieques [Museo de la Memoria Historia de Vieques/Archivo Histórico de Vieques] in collaboration with the project, DIASPORA of the University of Puerto Rico, are sponsoring activities on historical relations between Vieques (Puerto Rico) and St. Croix (USVI). On Friday, December 3, 2010, the Conde de Mirasol Museum will host a panel, a workshop, and a film screening and presentation. All events are free and open to the public.

At 9:00am, there will be a panel on the historical relations between Vieques and Santa Cruz with Robert Rabin (Director of the Historical Archives of Vieques), Mirerza González (Professor of English, UPR-Río Piedras), Johanna Bermúdez Ruiz (filmmaker from St. Croix), and Nadjah Ríos (Professor of English at UPR-Río Piedras). This will be followed by the workshop for local teachers at 1:00pm.

In the evening, at 7:00pm, there will be a presentation on Johanna Bermúdez Ruiz’s documentary Sugar Pathways, followed by the screening of the film.
