Professor Brendan Bain’s report the Belize High Court, as an expert witness, has been the subject of much contention, resulting in the University of the West Indies (UWI) firing him as director of the Regional Co-ordinating Unit of the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training Network (CHART).

On Tuesday, the UWI said that it had lost confidence in Bain after protests mounted from gay lobby groups against a professional opinion he gave in the court case regarding the risks associated with men who have sex with men.
