Roundtable “Giannina Braschi: A Literature of Hope”

SPEAKERS:
Nuria Morgado is Director of Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española and an Associate Member of the Real Academia Española. She teaches Hispanic Literatures at College of Staten Island and the CUNY Graduate Center. She is currently writing a book on Giannina Braschi’s PUTINOIKA (FlowerSong Press). She is co-founder of Letras Hispanas: Revista de Literatura y Cultura, the book review editor of the Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural Studies.

Patricia López-Gay is Associate Professor of Spanish and Experimental Humanities at Bard College, where she directs the Spanish Studies program. She is the author of the book Ficciones de verdad (Iberoamericana/Vervuert, 2020) which examines archive fever and auto/biography in traditional and digital media. She recently published «Alto y claro»: La narrativa reciente de Giannina Braschi entre otros discursos anti-distópicos (Nueva Revista). She is a full member of the Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española and an Associate Member of the Royal Academy of the Spanish Language.

Tess O’Dwyer is co-editor with Frederick Luis Aldama of the scholarly anthology “Poets Philosophers Lovers: On the Writings of Giannina Braschi,” which presents essays by 15 scholars from 7 countries and distinct disciplines (University of Pittsburgh Press). She translated Empire of Dreams (Yale University Press), Yo-Yo Boing! (Amazon Crossing), and Martin Rivas (Oxford University Press SA – Higher Education). She runs an eponymous arts consulting firm in New York City and serves as Board Chair of The Academy of American Poets.
