On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the death of the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, an unpublished work by the author will be published in 2024. The book, titled En agosto nos vemos, is completed, but the author, known for his numerous rewritings, did not have time to produce the final version of this work. As his sons Rodrigo and Gonzalo García Barcha explain in a press release, the 150-page novel is the result of a final effort by the writer to continue writing in the latter part of his life.

“En agosto nos vemos was the fruit of a last effort to continue creating against all odds. Reading it once again almost 10 years after his death, we discovered that the text had many and very enjoyable merits and nothing that may prevent us from enjoying the most outstanding of Gabo’s work: his capacity for invention, the poetry of language, his captivating narrative, his understanding of human beings and his affection for their experiences and misfortunes, especially in love, which is possibly the main theme of all his work.
