The School of Social Sciences, the Institute of Caribbean Studies, and the Archives of Social Sciences and the Caribbean at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras present AÑO DE TEMPESTADES: MARÍA EN LA HISTORIA DE PUERTO RICO Y EL CARIBE—Dos Charlas [The Year of Tempests: María in the History of Puerto Rico/the Caribbean—Two Lectures]. Both talks will be held at the Caribbean Archive of Social Sciences, 1st floor (located between the buildings Betances (REB) and Rivera Alvarado (CRA), next to the REDES room).

Wednesday, November 8, 1:30pm: “From Santa Ana to María: The eight major hurricanes in the modern history of Puerto Rico (19th-20th centuries)” by Prof. Juan Giusti Cordero (Department of History/School of Humanities, and Coordinator, ACCS)

Tuesday, November 14, 1:30pm: “Ecological Resistance to, and Resilience after, Caribbean Hurricanes” by Prof. Nicholas Brokaw (Department of Environmental Sciences, School of Natural Sciences)
