49th Annual Festival Santiago Apostol de Loiza en El Barrio

Los Hermanos Fraternos De Loiza and the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute in association with Taino Towers – El Barrio Fuerte, announce the 49th Annual Festival Santiago Apostol de Loiza en El Barrio to be held July 29 – 31, 2016, in New York. The festival is on between 11:00am and 8:00pm every day. Admission is free.

Description: The Festival Santiago Apostol De Loiza en El Barrio commonly known as the Loiza Festival in El Barrio is planned for July 29th to July 31st at East 109th Street between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. The festival celebrates the Afro Boricua traditions that have infused the island of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican diaspora with the “sabor” of tradition that includes food, music, dance, crafts and popular celebrations from the town of Loiza founded by “cimarrones” (maroons). The festival will have artisan and food vendors, performances from legendary Latin bands, and cultural presentations of Bomba and Plena.
