Tito Román Rivera’s film on Betances: El Antillano

Puerto Rican historian Félix Ojeda Reyes from the Instituto de Estudios del Caribe, has been at work (with collaborator Paul Estrade) on Puerto Rican patriot Ramón Emeterio Betances’ Obras Completas for many years. To complement this project, filmmaker Tito Román Rivera has been working on a film that seeks to place Betances in historical (and present-day political) context.

The project, which explores Betances’ contributions to the abolitionist and pro-independence movements in Puerto Rico, is explained by its director in this brief interview:
