City Parks Foundation, En Otro Tono, and La Marqueta Retona are thrilled to announce that renowned Cuban singer-songwriter Silvio Rodríguez Domínguez will perform a SummerStage Concert in Central Park on Sunday, September 10, 2017. The concert will mark the first time in 7 years that the celebrated leader of the Cuban “Nueva Trova” movement will perform in the United States. Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and guitarist Tito Auger will open the show.

“We are enormously honored to welcome Silvio Rodríguez to SummerStage,” said Heather Lubov, Executive Director of City Parks Foundation. “SummerStage is about bringing the best of the world’s artists to a New York audience. Rodriguez is one of Latin America’s greatest singers and composers and we are proud to offer New Yorkers a rare opportunity to see him perform on our stage, under the stars.”

The iconic poet and guitarist will perform songs from his latest album, Amoríos(2015), alongside his classic hits. He will be accompanied by Rachid López (guitar), Maikel Elizarde (tres), Niurka González (flutist and clarinetist), Oliver Valdés (drummer and percussionist), Jorge Reyes (double bassist), Jorge Aragón (pianist), and Emilio Vega (vibraphonist).

Silvio Rodríguez last performed in New York in 2010 to a sold-out crowd. The show was his first performance in the United States in 30 years.
