Rafael Trelles’s new book, Fabulaciones (2025) is now available; it has been published as part of the “Edades de Siddhartha” series at Editora Educación Emergente (EEE).

The book begins with “the hurricane [that] came to stay” [el huracán [que] llegó para quedarse] and closes with the mother’s transition, whose scene presents us with death as “the lady of light” [la señora de la luz]. Written between 2016—the year of the imposition of the Fiscal Control Board and the PROMESA law—and 2024—the year of the reelection of the far right in the colony and the empire—the flashes you hold in your hands will sustain you in hope like a secular temple. Every word and every illustration in this book— creations of the painter’s hands and, at the same time, the wombs that give birth to him —peer into the untamed madness of creation, myth, and divination as a personal antidote, with the conviction that “beneath my eyelids, stars emerge” [debajo de mis párpados eclosionan las estrellas].
