The Mostra di Venezia—the Venice International Film Festival—is the world’s oldest film festival and one of the most prestigious. In 2025, the 82nd edition of the festival will be held from August 27 to September 6 at the Venice Lido in Italy. Tickets for the festival are available online at La Biennale di Venezia.
Puerto Rican singer/actor/producer Bad Bunny is one of the actors appearing in the film Barrio triste, directed by Colombian American director Stillz. Juanma Fernández París(El Nuevo Día) reports.
Urban music superstar Bad Bunny will headline the Latin American presence at the upcoming Venice International Film Festival, which will also feature prominent filmmakers such as Guillermo del Toro (Mexico), who will premiere his highly anticipated Frankenstein; Lucrecia Martel (Argentina), and Ana Cristina Barragán (Ecuador). Del Toro’s film is expected to compete for the coveted Golden Lion, the festival’s top award.
Bad Bunny will participate in the Venice Film Festival with the film “Barrio triste,” directed by Colombian American director Stillz, known for his innovative music videos. The film also stars Juan Pablo Baena, Samuel Velázquez, Tomás Tinoco Higuita, Bryan Erlin García, Samuel Andrés Celís, and Brahian Acecedo.
The film will compete in the “Horizontes” section, the second largest section of the festival, where it will coincide with the first film to compete at the Festival in Ecuador’s history: “Hiedra,” Ana Cristina Barragán’s third film after “Alba” (2016) and “La piel del pulpo” (2022). The film explores a mother’s search for the son she abandoned when she was just a teenager. [. . .]
