Literary icon the Honourable Edward Kamau Brathwaite, CHB is to be accorded an official funeral on Friday, the Government announced today. The service to take place at 10 a.m. at the James Street Methodist Church is to be followed by the burial at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, Christ Church.
The body will repose for viewing at the Clyde B. Jones Funeral Home on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., and at the church on Friday, February 21, from 9 to 10 a.m. The service is open to all members of the public. Barbadians are invited to pay their respects at the service and to sign the condolence books, which will be opened at the viewings.
Brathwaite, one of the founding members of the West Indian literature movement died on February 4 at age 89.
