Two years after the devastating effect of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, Puerto Rico faces the withholding of close to $30 billion in federal funding already appropriated by congress for reconstruction, a debt restructuring that is likely to result in heighten austerity, a Medicaid cliff putting at risk health insurance for more than half of the population and many other challenges, all which largely originate in DC. This summit is about understanding what is going on in Puerto Rico and the role that the diaspora in general, and Puerto Ricans in Washington, DC in particular, can do in solidarity with Puerto Rico.
