Description: Mama Africa, directed by Afro-Venezuelan filmmaker Benito “Ifayemisi” Marquez, was filmed between the Republic of Nigeria and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Mama Africa is a stunning documentary that addresses the religious, cultural, and social expressions of the Yoruba communities and Afro-descendant peoples of southern Lake Maracaibo/Bobures (Venezuela). It centers the spiritual and community leader, Solagbade Popoola, (Lagos Nigeria) and Lendis Solarte, cultural leader of the Afro-descendant communities in Bobures, Venezuela as the protagonists of the story.
