[Many thanks to AICA Caraïbe du Sud for bringing this item to our attention.] At the News and Documentary Emmy Awards on Tuesday, Haitian-born director Raoul Peck was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary for his film I Am Not Your Negro. The Haiti Sentinel writes, “The documentary was also an Academy Award nominee. It envisions the book James Baldwin never finished, a revolutionary and personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends: Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr.”
