Clémence Michallon (Independent) reports that for the Billboard Music Awards 2019 Cardi B is leading with 21 nominations across 18 categories, “meaning the rapper is competing against herself.”
The rapper, who is nominated for Top Artist and Top Female Artist among other awards, is competing against herself in three slots, namely Top Hot 100 Song, Top Selling Song, and Top Collaboration, Billboard has announced.
Drake and Post Malone each received 17 nominations, putting them right behind Cardi B in the Billboard Music Awards race. Travis Scott follows with 12 nominations, and the late rapper XXXTentacion is up for 10 awards.
Kelly Clarkson will host the awards ceremony on 1 May in Las Vegas, at the MGM Garden Arena. The show is scheduled to air on NBC at 8pm ET (meaning 1am in the UK).
Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper are nominated together for the Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Soundtrack, and Top Selling Song.
Lady Gaga has also scored a solo nomination in the Top Song Sales Artist category.
Fans can vote online to select the winner in two categories: Top Social Artist and Chart Achievement.
