New York City Pride has announced its first phase of talent performing at the Multi-day Pride Island 2019. The two-day festival will see iconic singer Grace Jones take the Pier 97 stage.
The Jamaican-born singer and actress is the biggest name among those announced for Saturday 29 June. ‘I couldn’t be more excited to perform in front of my LGBTI friends and the community that’s supported me for so many years during WorldPride 2019,’ said Jones, who reportedly dated both men and women. ‘Saturday’s Pride Island lineup will be a celebration of everything that the community stands for and will go down in illustrious history.’
[. . .] Moreover, ballroom queen Teyana Taylor and Brazilian drag artist and songwriter Pabllo Vittar will perform. Other acts include Afro-Latina pop sensation, Amara La Negra, along with popular NYC DJ, Johnny Dynell. On Pride Island Sunday, taking place on 30 June, Abel and Morabito will take the lead. The headliner for Sunday will be announced at a later date.
