[Many thanks to Geoffrey Philp for sharing this item.] Looking forward to a new novel—Free, by Martin Mordecai—forthcoming from the University of the West Indies Press this fall.
Martin Mordecai has published books—such as the novel Blue Mountain Trouble and the reference book Culture and Customs of Jamaica (with Pamela C. Mordecai)—as well as essays and short stories, which have appeared in journals such as TOK 6, Caribbean Beat, and Jamaica Journal.
Mordecai, who calls himself “a slow writer,” recently completed Free—a historical novel set in Jamaica in 1831. As he states in Diasporic Dialogues, Free began life in 1974, and is now awaiting publication.
