On Saturday, July, 28, 2018, the Museum of Contemporary Art [Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC)] of Puerto Rico, there will be a conversation between political anthropologist Yarimar Bonilla and visual artist Pablo Delano. The event, entitled “The Museum of the Old Colony y los imaginarios del imperio ayer y hoy” [The Museum of the Old Colony and the Imaginaries of Empire, Yesterday and Today], will center on Delano’s installation, The Museum of the Old Colony (part of the exhibition “Entredichos”) and the colonial imaginary in Puerto Rico, past and present. This event is free and open to the public.
Yarimar Bonilla is associate professor of anthropology at Rutgers University. She is the author of Non-Sovereign Futures: French Caribbean Politics in the Wake of Disenchantment and the principal collaborator for the Puerto Rico Syllabus project.
Pablo Delano is professor of fine arts at Trinity College. His photographs have been exhibited throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe, and Australia. His books include Faces of America and In Trinidad.
