For a more significant contribution to the promotion of Caribbean art internationally, the Association Internationale des Critiques d’Art-Caraïbe du Sud, better known as Aica Caraïbe du Sud [Aica Southern Caribbean], has opted for the creation of a series of short videos online in French, English, and Spanish. This series, depending on the partners’ agreement, aims at introducing contemporary Caribbean visual artists from the entire archipelago. Initiated by Dominique Brebion (Martinique), the series focuses on artists from the Caribbean.
The video here and in the link below introduces the audience to Raymond Médélice from Martinique, with text by Alisson Thompson; narrator: Frédéric Guilbaud; credits by Gilles Elie-dit-Cosaque; and editing by Vianney Sotes.
Médelice’s solo exhibition “De Formidables machines à rêver”—curated by Dominique Brebion—is on view from June 22 to August 15, 2018, at La NEF, Fondation Clément, Martinique.
