La Casa de los Contrafuertes presents “Eclipsis,” a theatrical event Luis Antonio Rosario, tonight, Friday, June 1, 2018, at 8:00pm. Casa de los Contrafuertes is located at the corner of San Sebastián and San José Streets in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Description: “Eclipsis” is a dramatized reading, supported by mixed media, on the battles against black slavery in Saint Domingue, island of Hispaniola, at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century. The drama refers to the revolution that culminated in the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte’s troops—eclipsed body—in charge of the rebellious and independent army—eclipsing body—and the proclamation of the Republic of Haiti in 1804.
The original work of playwright and filmmaker Luis Antonio Rosario is supported by the screening of the film Cimarrón and the participation of actors Willy Denton, Rafael José and Jessica Gaspar.
