The Third International Exhibition of Video Art and Ecology: “Inner Nature/Contracorriente” [III Muestra Internacional de Videoarte y Ecología Inner Nature/Contracorriente] at El Lobi, an alternative space located at 621 Ernesto Cerra Street in Santurce (San Juan, Puerto Rico).
Organized from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, “Inner Nature/Contracorriente” presents video art works centering on ecological themes. The opening took place on May 25, 2018. El Lobi alternative art space located in Santurce, Puerto Rico. The show includes videos by Anna Day (England), Antonia Bañados (Chile), Clare Charnley (England), Despina Economopoulou (Greece), Hugh Livingston (United States), Johanna Reich (Germany), Juanma Valentín & Lucia Loren (Spain), Kim Jin-Kook, Nobina Gupta (India), Pat Van Boeckel (The Netherlands), Patricia Azevedo (Portugal), Ronnie Karfiol (Israel), and Roosje Verschoor (The Netherlands). This exhibition was curated by Chiara Sgaramella, Estela de Frutos, and Lorena Rodríguez Mattalia.
Inner Nature is a non-profit project created to reflect on issues related to art and ecology through audiovisual creation. It is a decentralized exhibition seeking to generate a maximum of cultural impact with a minimal ecological footprint. It aims to give visibility to the great global challenges that we face in our times. The show consists of an official section and a variable section that adapts to the needs of each exhibition space. The intention is to contribute to a cultural movement committed to eco-social reality, to mobilize our consciences and invite participation. Its first two editions have taken place in several venues in Chile, Finland, France, Spain, and the United States.
El Lobi is a meeting spot for artists, cultural agents, and the community in Santurce, Puerto Rico. The space, managed by artists, promotes artistic practice, critical thinking, and both local and international collaborations through workshops, meetings, residencies and exhibitions.
