Dominican Actor, Alexander Pimentel, in Shakespeare’s “Henry IV”

Alfonso Quiñones (Nota clave) writes about Alexander Pimentel, who he calls “one of the best prepared Dominican actors in the United States” and a rising star on the in the U.S. market. Pimentel will be joining seasoned actors, such as Tom Hanks, for a production of Henry IV. Quiñones writes:

According to news coming from Los Angeles, Alexander—who was the protagonist of that wonderful staging almost a decade ago of “El Graduado,” at the Theater of fine Arts [in Santo Domingo]—has been called in to perform with Tom Hanks in a lavish production of the play Henry IV, by the greatest playwright of all time.

Alexander was recently seen in the world premiere of The Madres at The Skylight Theater Company, and in the lead role in the workshop of the new musical Havana Music Hall. Some of his previous best roles include Gabe in Next to Normal, Hal in Henry IV, and Fabrizio in La luz en la Piazza. He is a graduate of Westminster Choir College and he holds a Master of Arts from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in London.

Description (PBS): Presented by Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles at The Japanese Garden on the West Los Angeles VA Campus, Henry IV is a new version of Shakespeare’s “Henry IV Parts One and Two” by Tony Award® winning director Daniel Sullivan. With a rebellion brewing, King Henry calls for his trouble-making son Hal to abandon his seedy bars and criminal hangouts and come home. But Hal has ideas of his own, having taken up with the lovable liar and thief Sir John Falstaff and his crew of highway robbers. Is Hal really ready for the royal responsibilities his father desperately needs him to handle? A story about fathers and sons, growing up and growing old, honor and rascals, Henry IV is an evening of Shakespeare’s greatest comedy and most touching drama.
