Here is a call for papers for the first issue of Haitian History Journal: Haiti and the Atlantic World, published by the Centre International de Documentation et d’Information Haïtienne, Caraïbéenne et Afro-Canadienne (CIDIHCA). This issue will be devoted to the most recent scholarly research on the Haitian Revolution and its broader impact in the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Atlantic. The deadline for submissions is May 30, 2018.
Description and Guidelines: The editorial board of the Haitian History Journal: Haiti and the Atlantic World, published by the Centre International d’Information et de Documentation Haïtienne, Caraïbéenne et Afro-Canadienne (CIDIHCA) in Montreal, is currently soliciting articles, reviews of recently published books and films, as well as reports of ongoing research projects and other related activities, for the first issue appearing in the fall of 2018. It will be devoted to the most recent scholarly research on the Haitian Revolution and its broader impact in the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Atlantic. The publication of the first issue and each subsequent issue will be accompanied with organized public events, round table discussions and debates, photo exhibits, films, etc., in collaboration with various community organizations and universities.
Abstracts of articles and proposals for book or film reviews for the first issue of Haitian History Journal: Haiti and the Atlantic World should be submitted no later than May 30th, 2018. Articles and reviews will be accepted in French, English and Spanish (with accompanying article abstracts in all three languages). Articles or reviews already published in one of the three languages may be submitted (with appropriate permissions) for translation as a new publication. Submitted articles should be sent electronically in Word format to the editorial board, who will review and send them anonymously for second reading and recommendation to individual members of an advisory committee with expertise in the field.
Authors will receive notice of recommendation to publish either: without modification; with minor modifications; only after major modifications; or, a decision to reject publication. The final draft of accepted articles, as well as book and/or film reviews, must be received no later than August 2018. Selected articles that were not retained for publication in the paper issue of the journal may be published electronically on the journal’s website.
