El Sol Gallery in Mongoose Junction to Screen SAND ON THE FLOOR this afternoon

On Saturday, April 21st at 5 p.m. Bajo El Sol gallery in Mongoose Junction will be screening the documentary SAND on the FLOOR by filmmaker Steve Rockstein.

The film uses the history of the second oldest Synagogue in the Caribbean to take the you deep inside the Jewish heart and mind. Historians, rabbis and congregants take us from the Congregation’s Spanish Inquisition roots to its uncertain future. The film gives us an intimate look at Jewish life, shedding light on its traditions and ambiguities. And in the process, it pries at the cracks dividing the Jewish world today. The epilogue documents the role this Congregation and its historic Synagogue played in the filmmakers’ journey back to Judaism, 49-years after being targeted by a pedophile.

After the film the filmmaker will be available for a brief Q&A. Refreshments will be served. Tickets will be sold at the door; a $10 donation is appreciated.
