Six Artists to Listen to In Easter

From the tender ballads of Dominican singer/songwriter Juan Luis Guerra’s to the illuminating musical melodies of Aline Barros from Brazil, we take a moment to highlight some of the most inspiring Latin Christian music.

Rapper-turned-pastor Hector “El Father” Delgado recently introduced a biopic about his life at a special screening in Puerto Rico with his longtime friend Daddy Yankee by his side.

For Delgado, a pioneer in the early days of reggaeton, the film does more than entertain audiences. “It’s a tool to help many find salvation, because Jesus never forgets us.”

The diversity of styles, voices and music within Latin Christian music includes contemporary compositions and special performances featuring some of the best Latin Christian acts. Here’s a list of some of the most prominent examples:

Tercer Cielo

Superstars of sacred Latin pop, the members of Tercer Cielo have been declaring their faith in the language of young love ballads since 2000. The group’s Dominican co-founder Juan Carlos and his wife, Mexican-American singer Evelyn Herrera are the current faces of the group. They recently released “Primero,” the first single from their new album Momentos en el Tiempo.

Juan Luis Guerra

A household name since his 1989 “Ojala Que Llueva Cafe” became a global hit, multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy winner Juan Luis Guerra is also known to Christian music followers for his spiritual side. The devout singer-songwriter has brought his irresistible tropical fusion to the Lord with praise songs like “Las Avispas.”

Alex Campos

Colombian singer-songwriter Alex Campos’ poetic ballads have gained him a huge following throughout Latin America and the Latin U.S. No stranger to the Billboard Latin Pop charts, Campos spreads the word through extensive tours whose proceeds have often gone to charitable causes.

Jaci Velasquez

Since she was a teen, Jaci Velasquez has been entertaining audiences with passionate ballads. Today, the Houston-born singer continues making music and touring throughout the U.S. and beyond, inspiring audiences around the world with her heartfelt music in English and Spanish. The 2017 release of Trust included the same album in Spanish with fan favorite tracks such as “I Will Call” and “God Who Moves the Mountains.”

Aline Barros

A multiple Grammy winner for Best Christian Album in Portuguese, Aline Barros has captured the hearts of many with a powerful voice and a rich catalog of music reaching fans worldwide. Whether commanding the stage with songs such as “Recomeçar” or “Ressuscita-me,” Aline’s riveting performances elevate the genre.

Hector El Father

Hector “El Father” Delgado is legendary for his early work in music as he introduced reggaeton to the world in the ‘90s as part of the duo known as Hector and Tito (Los Bambinos). As a solo artist he eventually joined JAY-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records during his rapping days, but then left the music business for a higher calling as a pastor, which is chronicled in the upcoming film Conocerás la Verdad (You Will Know the Truth).
