Dance—“Windrush: Movement of the People”


Celebrating the rise of multicultural Britain, internationally-acclaimed Phoenix Dance Theatre company commemorates the 70th Anniversary of the arrival of SS Empire Windrush—the ship that brought the first large group of immigrants from the Caribbean to the UK. Performances of Windrush: Movement of the People began this evening (March 7, 2018) and will continue through May 10, 2018.

Description: Windrush: Movement of the People is a lively celebration of the rise of multicultural Britain. The new dance features an uplifting soundtrack from calypso to reggae. Windrush is presented alongside Calyx, by Sandrine Monin and Shadows by Christopher Bruce. Fusing music and dance, Windrush celebrates the black culture that is now part of the country’s fabric.
