In the Dominican Republic, DP World Caucedo—a marine terminal and free zone located in Punta Caucedo, near the city of Santo Domingo—and the environment organization Reef Check are collaborating to preserve the coral reefs in the Boca Chica and La Caleta regions. They recently signed a collaboration agreement to launch the Huella Azul (blue footprint) initiative, as part of Caucedo’s actions and sustainability commitments for 2018.

Dominican Today reports that DP World Caucedo director Morten Johansen and Reef Check director Ruben Torres signed the agreement during the launch of the documentary Chasing Coral in Caribbean Cinemas of the Acropolis Center. Johansen said the agreement is part of the company’s commitment to promote a sustainable culture. Torres added that, through the Huella Azul initiative, DP World Caucedo seeks “to leave a positive legacy in the environment, promoting a culture of sustainability inside and outside the organization.”
