Legendary Puerto Rican singer Lucecita Benítez received special recognition for her extensive and successful career in the music industry at an international level. Yesterday, at a special ceremony of the Latin Recording Academy in Las Vegas, she was presented with the Award of Excellence.
The artist said that she was “Wonderfully happy, wonderfully happy and eager to return to my country to continue lifting up my country,” adding that this tribute gives her the opportunity to “bring a little joy to our country that is so overcome.”
“I feel very happy and I dedicated the award to my country and to all the hands that are working to raise it up.” She explained that she was staying for the awards ceremony, but was returning to Puerto Rico right away “with my gloves on to keep working.”
Along with her, others who also received the award were João Bosco, Ilan Chester, Víctor Heredia, Los Del Río, Guadalupe Pineda, and Cuco Valoy.
