Ceramist Sylvia Blanco has passed away


Puerto Rican ceramist Sylvia Blanco will be remembered by many. Blanco passed away on September 3, 2017. She was one of the foremost pioneers of the sculptural art of pottery in Puerto Rico; the quality of her work, her dedication, and the international recognition she received reaffirmed the discipline of ceramics on the island, especially in the 70s and 80s. Silvia Blanco (1943-2017)

Bachelor of Arts at the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras (1964)

Student and collaborator of the Estudio Caparra workshop

Won a gold medal at the International Art Ceramics Competition in Faenza, Italy

Director of the Department of Sculpture at the School of Plastic Arts of Puerto Rico
