New Book: “In This Breadfruit Kingdom”

Our congratulations to all the authors included in this latest poetry anthology edited by Jamaican poet laureate Mervyn Morris. In This Breadfruit Kingdom (Blouse & Skirt Books / National Library of Jamaica) capturing roughly 100 years of Jamaican poetry, was launched on May 11, 2017, according to Susumba.

As Tanya Batson-Savage writes, “In This Breadfruit Kingdom opens with ‘Reporting Back to Queen Isabella,’ by the poet who will take over the mantle of Poet Laureate of Jamaica, Lorna Goodison.”

Among the many fine poets included are Jacqueline Bishop, Colin Channer, Mel Cooke, Christine Craig, Kwame Dawes, Juleus Ghunta, Lorna Goodison, Millicent Graham, Ishion Hutchinson, Ann-Margaret Lim, Kei Miller, Pamela Mordecai, Geoffrey Philp, Claudia Rankine, Dennis Scott, Olive Senior, Tanya Shirley, and Andrew Stone.
