With the title of “Fidel siempre” [Fidel forever] on its cover, the Casa de las Américas journal dedicates issue number 286 to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. This edition will be presented on Thursday, May 18 at 4:00pm at the Manuel Galich Room at Casa de las Américas in Havana, Cuba. The special issue will be presented by Gerardo Hernández Nordelo.
According to La Ventana, this issue includes the text “Fidel tiene que hacer en América todavía” [roughly translates as “Fidel still has much to do in/with the Americas”], the statement issued by the Casa de las Américas upon the death of the Cuban politician and intellectual; as well as a statement issued by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and a selection of articles that circulated during the sorrowful days of his death.
Among the authors gathered in this edition there are close to forty prestigious intellectuals from Latin America and beyond, including Frei Betto, Ignacio Ramonet, Stella Calloni, Paco Ignacio Taibo II, Atilio A. Borón, Graziella Pogolotti, and Néstor Kohan.
