A report by Katrina Rees for Celebmix.

Here at CelebMix, we love introducing you to artists who we think will be the stars of tomorrow. 19 year old Bajan native Amelia Payne is well on her way to becoming the next must-watch pop princess.

Singing has been in Amelia’s blood ever since she was seven years old, to the extent where she would sing all the time and even get in trouble for singing out loud in class. Born in Barbados, Amelia moved to Miami with her family and spent eight years there, before returning to her birthplace. On her return to Barbados, Amelia started vocal training, which truly kick-started her craft. At just 13 years old, Amelia recorded her first track, which lead to spots on Bajan TV and radio.

Now, Amelia resides in London after moving here to attend college. After honing her songwriting craft during her teenage years, she has been busy writing and producing her forthcoming EP. The first track to be unveiled from the EP is ‘Down’, a compelling pop-RnB offering which is sure to allow Amelia to make her mark.

Laced with Caribbean undertones and an alluringly dark sound, ‘Down’ is a truly hypnotic debut. The track was written by Amelia herself and produced by Simon Brown. The accompanying music video lets Amelia show off her star quality as well as some slick moves.

Check out ‘Down’ below.

Amelia Payne is without doubt a star in the making. The combination of her songwriting skills, hypnotic vocal and confidence make her the perfect package. We predict big things for this Bajan beauty!
