José Lewest’s Les processus de reconfiguration dans l’art caribéen, Guadeloupe, Haïti, Jamaïque [The Processes of Reconfiguration in Caribbean Art: Guadeloupe, Haiti, Jamaica] was published by Éditions de L’Harmattan in February 2017.
Description: This book offers a specific reading of Caribbean art through a comparative approach in the context of the entire region, associating the practices of the countries of the Lesser and the Greater Antilles: Guadeloupe, Haiti and Jamaica, in an extended time span and with a broad global vision. This approach aims to expand the perceptions and understanding of the core of Caribbean creation. It also reframes the position of Guadeloupean art in the broader Caribbean.
José Lewest holds a PhD in visual arts and teaches at Collège Edmond Bambuck in Gosier, Guadeloupe. He is also the author of Pour une politique culturelle raisonnée des arts plastiques en Guadeloupe (2009).
