Dartmouth College: Visiting Open Rank Professor of African Studies, Caribbean Studies, or related discipline

The Program in African and African American Studies at Dartmouth College invites applications for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal, at the level of Visiting Professor (Open Rank) beginning Fall 2017. The Program seeks a broad range of interdisciplinary candidates with expertise in African Studies or Caribbean Studies. Disciplinary focus is open but preference will be given to those with a background in historical approaches, broadly conceived. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research as in teaching in a liberal arts context. Responsibilities include teaching core courses and courses in fields of specialization/interests as well as student advising. Candidates should have received a Ph.D. by June 2017.

Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing teaching and research interests and a C.V. to http://apply.interfolio.com/40833. Letters of recommendation and evidence of teaching effectiveness may be requested of short-listed applicants. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Dartmouth College is an Equal Opportunity employer and continues to build a community that reflects the gender and racial diversity of the society at large, and therefore, we are particularly interested in and strongly encourage applications from multiple ethnic minorities and women.
