Puerto Rico Art News (PRAN) announced that the artist collective Proyecto de Artistas Plásticos, Inc. was able to secure the use of the historic building Casa de los Contrafuertes [House of the Buttresses] on Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is a great victory for the art collective, a group of artists who, through several years, had promoted local artists and hosted numerous cultural events, including exhibitions and workshops—all free and open to the general public. PRAN reports:
The Executive Director of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP), Professor Carlos Ruiz Cortés, accompanied by Charles Juhasz Alvarado and the Proyecto de Artistas Plásticos, Inc., announced at a March 9th press conference the reopening of Casa de los Contrafuertes with an agreement to use the building as a cultural center and workshop space in Old San Juan.
The reopening of Casa de los Contrafuertes represents an opportunity for a cultural workspace in which further programming will be developed for the public. The agreements for usage of the workshop space include using the venue to present and discuss the research and multidisciplinary projects of local and international artists.
