National Geographic explores the “Playuela” Controversy

As a follow-up to previous posts So Beautiful and So Pure and Puerto Rican Surfers Fight to Save Playuela, here is a link the National Geographic, which explores the “Playuela” controversy. In “At a Gorgeous Beach, Mega-Hotel Plans Raise Controversy,” NG presents a video exploring the points of view of scientists, activists, surfers, residents and the local government. NG explains:

“One of Puerto Rico’s most iconic beaches, Playuela, is at the center of a controversy dividing the island’s residents. Scientists and activists argue that the proposed $200 million-dollar mega hotel will adversely impact the pristine ecosystem. Meanwhile, the local government supports the project which promises new jobs and increased tourism.”
