Taller Puertorriqueño presents the 21st Annual Arturo A. Schomburg Symposium, which is organized around the theme “Sports and Blackness: Inclusion?” The symposium will take place on Saturday, February 25, 9:30am to 5:00pm at El Corazón Cultural Center, located at 2600 North 5th Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This year’s annual Schomburg Symposium will be all about Afro-Latino contributions to the sporting world. The central question to this year’s symposium is: has the experience of Afro-Latino athletes been one of true inclusion, integration, both, or neither?
Speakers and panelists include historians, scholars, and athletes, sharing their personal experiences and discussing the issues and successes of the Afro-Latino community in sports. Admission to the symposium includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
