On April 27-30, 2017, there will be a series of events for the 220th Commemoration of the 1797 British Siege and Defense of San Juan sponsored by the Fixed Regiment of Puerto Rico, Inc. [Regimiento Fijo de Puerto Rico, Inc.] Events include lectures, living history demonstrations (including scrimmages, battle reenactments, and marches), and social events marking the opening and closing of the Commemoration.
Preceding the commemoration, on April 20, there will be Lecture by Dr. José Rigau Pérez on the painting: Exvoto of the English Siege of 1797 to San Juan [see image above] by 18th century Puerto Rican painter José Campeche, who fought with the Fixed Regiment (6:00pm, Aula Magna, Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean).
On April 27, there will be an Opening Ceremony 6:30pm at the Casa Blanca Museum, Fixed Regiment of Puerto Rico (RFPR) Headquarters.
From April 28 to 30, there will be a series of living history demonstrations in different venues around Old San Juan and Puerta de Tierra, such as Cuartel de Ballajá (barracks), The City Hall, Plaza de Armas, and others. For example, on the evening of April 28, at Paseo de la Princesa (walkway), there will be a Scrimmage demonstrating British and Spanish crossfire with the Amazing Grace Topsail Schooner firing from San Juan Bay.
